An Interview With Mom:
Salut! I'm sick of saying 'hello' so I said it in French! This is Alexis. BTW I'll be saying hi in different languages for the next 21 posts.
A: I was never sure how many kids I was going to have; I just let God make the decisions and pick. I did not expect six kids, however!
Q: Now you're a full-time mom. What was your job before?
A: I taught chemistry for college freshmen and sophomores. When Alexis was born, I took maternity leave and then taught with the same age group via e-mail. I continued to do this until the maternity leaves got too much and I quit.
Q: What is a typical day for you?
A: I usually get up at around 5:30 and sometimes to yoga or exercise with Dad. Then I head to the kitchen to go make breakfast and wake up the kids through the Google Home. Once they get downstairs I have set the table and let them eat while I tell them what to do. If they have school I drive them there, if they go camping the same thing. Then I clean up the kitchen and play with the at-home kids. In between, I run errands and visit the grocery store. After that, I pick up the school kids and drive them to after-school activities if they have them. I watch the kids while Dad makes dinner or sometimes vice versa. I eat after them, clean up, and then say prayers. We send the kids to bed. I help brush teeth and read bedtime stories. Then I shut the doors and read to myself or watch adult movies with Dad, but usually, I just clean some more. I go to bed at about ten o'clock if I'm lucky, getting about 7 hours of sleep.
Q: Where do you go or what do you do for peace and quiet?
A: When I'm in the car by myself or when the kids are at school/camp and it's naptime. It's about one hour of this "peez and kuiet" you talk about.
Q: What are the biggest challenges you face?
A: It's hard to cope when multiple people are talking to me at the same time and I just hear a jumble of words. I also despise when people are fighting in the car and I have to pull over, and when we listen to Parry Gripp songs like "Cat Flushing a Toilet" and "I'm a Crazy Wierdo and I'm Calling You." It bugs me how 'weirdo' is spelled wrong!! People not being disciplined is definitely one of my challenges.
Q: Do you think you will have another child?
A: It depends on what God wants. Hebrews 13:5---
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you."
Q: What's your main goal in momhood?
A: Sainthood for all my kids.
Q: That's it?
A: Hands down. No contest.
Q: What will you do after everyone has moved out (in about 20 years)?
A: We want to move downtown into a condo and eat nice dinners every night, Dad will retire, and we'll travel a lot. I'll also be a grandma and play golf with Dad.
Q: What's your favorite part of being a six-kid mom?
A: Spending time with my kids.
Q: What do you think the household will look like in five years?
A: We'll have three teenagers and another car in the garage, and my hair will be 100% grey.
Q: How did you feel when you had each child?
A: I was always happy to see the child that was abusing me from the inside for nine months.
Q: When you were about ten or so, did you want kids or to be married?
A: Yes.
Q: Who's your favorite child?
A: Haha, nice try. I do have a favorite husband though!
I heard making an interview with someone will make your blog popular, and that's what we want! I decided that the most interesting person in my life was Mom (sorry Dad).

It's not every day that you meet someone with six kids (aside from the Endres's, close friends who have five kids).
Q: Did you want to have six kids? How many did you originally want?
A: I was never sure how many kids I was going to have; I just let God make the decisions and pick. I did not expect six kids, however!
